We are delighted to announce that our 2017 Drama Australia National Symposium will be held in Canberra later this year in partnership with ACT Drama Association (ACTDA).

This year’s symposiums themes is ‘Creative Capital’ allowing our community to gather in our nation’s capital to discuss, debate and share our creative practice in Drama Education. The National Symposium will follow a similar format to our 2016 ‘Looking Back, Looking Forward’ Symposium in Adelaide starting at around lunchtime on Friday 29 September and running all day on Saturday 30th September.

The Symposium will have a research and practice focus and all delegates will be together for the two-day event listening to the same keynotes, panels and presentations from leaders in our field. The symposium will have something to offer to all Drama educators, from primary and secondary teachers, to academics and researchers. These two days will be spent sharing best practice and research in our field.

Keynotes include the amazing minds of Peter Duffy (University of South Carolina); Susan Davis (Central QLD University); Julie Dyson (NAAE) in conversation with Anita Collins (University of Canberra) and finally, Fraser Corfield (Australian Theatre for Young People), along with a collection of fantastic presenters and guest speakers. All those who register are also invited to attend a free Pre-Symposium workshop based on Shaun Tan’s “Stick Figures” with Jane Bird.
