Description

Celebrating 50 Years of Drama Australia

In 2026, Drama Australia celebrates 50 years of supporting drama education across Australia. A central part of this legacy is the publication of high-quality research and professional practice through NJ: Drama Australia Journal and ADEM: Australian Drama Education Magazine.

Both publications are fully open access and freely available to educators, researchers and the wider community. We believe equitable access to drama education research and classroom practice is essential.

Producing these publications involves significant and ongoing costs, including editing, peer review, design, production, digital hosting and distribution. Drama Australia invests approximately $4,600 each year to produce NJ and ADEM.

Prior to 2022, NJ: Drama Australia Journal operated under a subscription model, with individual subscriptions costing $148. While the transition to open access has greatly increased accessibility and global reach, it has also removed an important source of publication income. Community sponsorship now plays a key role in sustaining open access.

Sponsors will be acknowledged in NJ, ADEM, and on the Drama Australia website. Sponsorship is open to individuals and organisations, and multiple sponsorships may be purchased.

Just 46 sponsorships fully support one year of open access publication.
