hosted by Drama NSW

from Friday 2nd June to Saturday 3rd June 2023 at the University of Newcastle, NSW

ABOUT 2023 ANTiDOTE:

ANTiDOTE aims to open up space for sharing innovative drama practice and research that acts as a creative remedy for the challenging circumstances of our times.

ANTiDOTE WILL:

  • Explore how drama education continues to craft hope, remedy and collective insight to relieve, prevent and counteract the challenges of living in times of unprecedented crisis, inequity and change.
  • Celebrate the centrality of radical creative praxis that underpins drama education. How does drama activate transformative (he)artful experiences that are vital to helping us live and learn on a damaged planet? How do we build creative agency, compassion and critical understanding? In what ways does our work strengthen the capacities and ethical imaginations of the people we work with and for?
  • Examine new directions and effective methods that have been forged to meet the challenges we face: in our pasts, presents and possible futures.
  • Allow us to hold space for each other, our students and our communities, to tell and stage stories that matter.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • We are in search of presenters, presentations and papers that provoke and excite us as a community of artists and educators as we continue to arm ourselves with the creative antidote our systems and communities so desperately need.
  • We are seeking creative teachers, innovators and practitioners at all levels who can to strengthen our resolve, leadership and practice as vital and adaptable arts educators.

We are particularly interested in presentations that are responsive to our times and inclusive of differing participant’s needs whilst building collective experience and understanding.
